Beware of Suspicious Emails and Messages Impersonating Online Travel Agencies

Information for customers

Thank you for your continued patronage.
We have confirmed instances where suspicious messages—sent via email or messaging apps like WhatsApp—are being directed at some guests who booked their stay through online reservation sites such as Booking.com or Agoda.

These messages contain malicious URL links designed to lure recipients to fraudulent phishing sites, often under the guise of confirming a reservation and requesting the entry of credit card information.

If you receive such a suspicious email or message, please exercise extreme caution and do not access (click) the included URL; this is to prevent potential fraud or data theft.

Please be aware that we will never ask guests who selected "prepayment" for their reservation to provide their credit card information again.

If you have entered your credit card information or processed a payment, please contact your credit card company or financial institution immediately and consult your local police station. Booking.com has also established a dedicated customer service contact point for this issue; please be sure to contact them regarding any details or questions you may have.

We sincerely apologize for the significant concern and inconvenience this situation has caused.
We ask for your continued vigilance and understanding.

Manager, Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu
